Our client a provider of rolling stock across the globe is looking for experienced Mechanical Engineers to work on major infrastructure projects. The role is to provide technical excellence in the field of mechanical installation design for rolling stock and depot equipment. To provide input to the design authority process and undertake review and validation of changes to design; supply mechanical installation design support to the Fleet Engineering Managers and other internal customers; undertake design projects that will deliver improvements in vehicle and system life-cycle costs, and reliability, availability and maintenance (RAM) performance, and fulfil the obligations of new business opportunities and contracts; develop safe and effective design solutions within agreed project timescales. Key accountabilities include providing design support to the engineering change process, to ensure timely completion of agreed deliverables, including submissions to Infrastructure Companies, London underground, the Office of Rail Regulation, and other stakeholders. You will be required to support the process for review of system life-cycle costs for London Underground fleets, with a view to continual improvement through design change, material re-sourcing, and train maintenance regime change; deliver reactive and proactive design support to line Fleet engineers to facilitate resolution of service issues, using standard tools such as FRACAS. Support the safety assurance process for current and future vehicle fleets; investigate the effect of new or improved products and technologies on vehicle design, with a view to their potential introduction, where potential exists for performance improvement; provide design input to the London Underground Services business for maintenance and refurbishment tender submissions.
