A key member of the Transport Strategy team, the Senior Transport Planner will be highly integrated with a range of planning projects and assisting in these project directions. The role will present challenges to technical skills and business/commercial experience working with a range of private and public sector clients. Responsibilities of the role will include but not limited to: Project management of a range of single and multi-disciplinary transport projects involving responsibility for resourcing, financial management and controls including the timely and reliable delivery of objectives. Responsibility for ensuring appropriate and necessary liaison with programme or project management for resources, resource allocation and team involved in longer-term strategic resourcing requirements and project delivery. Lead and/or key contribution to strategic use of software ranging from urban models, micro-simulation model and/or demand modelling. Management of project teams with potential responsibility for model delivery or survey programmes, network updating, matrix development, calibration/validation or forecasting Assist as to project requirements of major transport schemes assessments and land use developments Check sample output for compliance with quality requirements and industry best practice. Consultation and liaison with a wide range of client groups enhancing and developing our clients branding and market perception. Managing and communicating clients expectations, delivery timeframes, risk analysis and advise. Contribute to the development of business cases and potential responsibility for liaison with clients and other project stakeholders Compiling and writing proposals benefiting business development that will work closely with the existing modelling teams. Candidate Specification: The successful applicant will be a commercially focused, technical professional seeking to enhance their career by utilising and enhancing their skills in a varied, dynamic and challenging role. The suitable candidate is likely to have the following attributes: First and/or second engineering/mathematical degree (or equivalent). MSc, MA or further qualifications are of benefit but not essential. Preferably be professionally/chartered status or member of a professional organisation (IHT, ILT or TPS) Postgraduate qualification in Transport Planning (or equivalent) would be valued for any applicant. Likely to have 10+ years' experience in transport planning with developed skills in Strategic Transport Development, appraisals, structure planning and/or Local Development frameworks. Experience of transport assessment and masterplanning would be of exceptional advantage for any applicant. Preferably experience and/or knowledge of SATURN, VISSIM (or equivalent) would be of benefit in this position. Proven success in business development activities, preferably able to demonstrate successful bids/tenders in preferably in a consultancy environment. Proven record of client interaction, relationship building and commercial/business awareness and acumen is preferable. A background and experience of being able to work with master planners, designers, architects and agents. Experience in undertaking estimating, cost reporting and forecasting for projects Being motivated and adaptable to project demands including assisting, managing and mentoring more junior team members as required. Professional, strong communication skills in report writing, bid drafting and communication with clients and colleagues alike.
